PRIVACY NOTICE

This privacy notice explains how Save our Spaniels (SOS) collects and uses personal information, in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018.

SOS is a UK-based registered charity (registration number 1173875), established to help spaniels abandoned or relinquished across the world, with a view to finding them loving homes in the UK.

The information we collect

We collect personal information from people who apply to SOS to:

·         adopt a dog;

·         foster for us;

·         surrender a dog to us;

·         provide support in other ways, including homechecking, transport, and fundraising;

·         supply goods and services to SOS.

The personal information we collect is used to fulfil our legitimate interest of managing our association with you, for our stated purpose of helping abandoned and relinquished spaniels.

We collect personal information from you on forms we ask you to complete, from emails or electronic messages, or from public records, vets, animal welfare organisations, or other third parties with your consent.

How we use personal information

If you apply to adopt or foster an SOS dog, the personal information we collect includes your name, address, contact details, and information about your home environment and working hours. We use your personal information to communicate with you (by telephone, email, SMS, private social media platforms, or post) and to help us make decisions about placement of the dogs in our care. If you do not consent to provide us with your personal information, we cannot process your application.

If you support SOS in any other capacity, or provide goods and services, we use your personal information to communicate with you (by telephone, email, SMS, private social media platforms, or post).

We may share your personal information, only where necessary, with individual volunteers or with vets, pet ID databases, transporters, other animal welfare organisations or third parties, and with law enforcement agencies or regulatory bodies where we are required to do so by law.

Personal information provided on SOS application forms or electronically via email or other electronic message is stored securely in electronic form, within the European Economic Area. If we need to transfer data outside the European Economic Area we will ensure that, before we do so, there is adequate protection in place to ensure the security of your data.

Other than for adoptions, personal information will be retained for a maximum of six years unless a longer period is required by law. As SOS provides lifetime rescue backup, personal information from adopters will be retained for the life of the rescue dog adopted.

You have the right to:

·         access the information we hold about you, in a format that suits you;

·         ask us to make any changes to your information to make sure it is accurate and up-to-date;

·         ask us to stop, limit our use of or delete your information (we are not obliged to do this in relation to information we need as part of a contractual relationship)

·         transfer your information to a third party
