save our spaniels
We are a UK-based registered Charity specifically set up to help spaniels and bretons (Brittanys) that have been abandoned, dumped or relinquished to perreras (kill stations) and shelters across the world, with a view to finding them loving homes in the UK. Save our Spaniels is a registered Charity with the number 1173875. You can find out further details about Save our Spaniels on the Charity Details page at the Charities Commission.
All our rescues are assessed in UK foster homes throughout England and then advertised on our Facebook page and the website when ready for adoption.
Run by a small group of volunteers, who are spaniel and breton lovers/owners. From humble beginnings with two members of admin in 2015, we have 9 admin in the UK and one in Spain. Also we have scores of fabulous supporters who assist with transporting, home checking, fostering, fundraising, donating and then there are the awesome adopters.

Why adopt from SOS?
We are a breed specific rescue and have a wealth of experience with the breeds.
All our rescues are assessed in UK foster homes prior to adoption.
We are an established and registered charity who carry out the ethical procedure of preparing and assessing dogs, as well as transporting them with DEFRA registered transporters, completing DEFRA paperwork to import.
We offer lifetime rescue back up (should your circumstances change in 6 months/6 years time, we will take your family member back into the fold at SOS to rehome again) as stated in our Adoption Contract.
A Message from our Patron: Sue Johnston OBE
“I first became aware of Save our Spaniels in the summer of 2017, when a good friend told me that she was about to start fostering dogs. I was very keen and asked whether it was something I could consider doing. Having a rather busy schedule and potentially being in different parts of the country regularly and often at the drop of a hat, it was decided that I perhaps wouldn’t be a very good candidate!
I did, however, want to find out more and who could fail to be moved by the incredible reaction of Save our Spaniels supporters when the appeal goes out to secure a safe future for a beautiful Spaniel or breton, spotted in a kill station over in Spain, relinquished by another heartless hunter.
Laura produces the infamous thermometer on the SOS Facebook page, which reaches and exceeds it’s target in record time, as everybody rallies and digs deep. It’s positively heart warming. I had to help by putting my face out there in support of Save our Spaniels, alongside all of you”.
